This my predicted lineup for Brighton vs Liverpool.
Defense
I see Potter going with a back four here as usual, though he could go for a
back three so he can match up man-for-man with Liverpool's front three.
Lamptey's consistent displays will surely earn him another start.
Personally, I give Duffy the nod because of Liverpool's dangerous aerial
ability. In the reverse fixture we conceded two headers to Virgil Van
Dijk.
Midfield
In midfield I think Potter will want his two starters in Bissouma and
Propper to hold, but don't be surprised if he throws Stephens in. He is a
physical defender that can certainly disrupt Liverpool's attack. Mooy has
been solid since lockdown and I expect him or Gross to start and provide
disruption up front.
Attack
Ahead of them, I expect really for Potter to go for three forward. Looking
at some of Liverpool's struggles this year it has come from wingers that
challenge Liverpool full-backs one on one. An example is Gerard Deulofeu and
Ismalia Sarr in Watford's famous upset win. I think Potter will try to
emulate this with his own players. Call me crazy for starting Jahanbakhsh
but you never know what the gaffer is cooking up in his game plan. To me, it
would make sense to have two wingers on the pitch. Connolly has certainly
been good, but in this one I think Potter will seek to utilize him as a
substitute. Against a tough side like Liverpool, the initial plan can be
foiled, so turning to the bench for adjustment is almost
certain.
So, it could be a 4-2-3-1, but I think given Liverpool's recent struggles
against 4-3-3 sides, I think Potter will want to try and emulate
that.
